Snow White~

Alright, this is a song I wrote when I had just begun to learn the guitar from the amazing Laurel Pettersen;)
I've finally decided to share it on here, so here we go...

Once there was life
And light and laughter...
But now death and darkness reign.
Where is the dawn?
We're wreathed in shadow...
It rains.
Jesus, take these burdens, this sorrow, this pain...
And wash it all away.

Whiter than snow,
Purer than light,
Cleanse all my troubles
With your true might.
Just as a dove, Lord, pure snow white.

Roll back the clouds
With holy thunder
And chase death and doubt away...
Gone now, I pray,
Give me a clear new day.
Jesus, take this storm, the rain, the gray...
And wash it all away.

Whiter than snow,
Purer than light,
Cleanse all my troubles
With your true might.
Just as a dove, Lord, pure snow white.

Whiter than Snow,
Purer than light,
Touched by your wonder...
Glories bright!

Whiter than snow,
Purer than light,
Cleanse all my troubles
With your true might.
Just as a dove, Lord, pure snow white.

Freed from the night...
Pure snow white.

Quiet~

Observing this world in its current hibernating state. It's peaceful and serene and doesn't fret... neither should I.

World, I envy you so,
Sleeping 'neath January snow,
Resting, breathing, as cold winds blow.
I recall the days you were awake...

When you were vibrant green,
Birds and flowers, grass and trees.
Then you grew sleepy, took your ease,
While I stand here and shake.

Now you can lie there, quiet,
While in my mind there is a riot.
The uproar, I must defy it!
Calm my thoughts as they quake.

Pray for turmoil to cease, flee,
Let what will... come to be.
Close my eyes and count to three.
You set a path that I should take.

Winter Stars~

Glittering, gleaming,
A silver swarm.
Twinkling, dancing,
A frosty storm.

Sparkling stars aloft,
Burning flecks of white,
Strewn across the Heavens,
Silent in the night.

Frost-bitten winter jewels,
Frigid, winking stars.
Piercing the darkness,
As little bright scars.

A frozen swathe
Of milky stardust...
Children of the moon,
Glowing coldly gold-rust.

These cold, magical nights
Can never be marred;
Pure beauty dwells in
The radiant winter stars.

The Greatest Gift of All~

Last year, my sister Emma wrote a beautiful Christmas poem I thought I'd share with y'all...

The Christmas colors- red, green and white,
The smell of the cookies,
The soft candlelight.
The land is adorned in a white crystal gown,
The cold air is sharp,
The season’s spirit all thru the town.
Gifts will be given,
Songs will be sung,
And above the hearth,
Stockings will be hung.
Children shall wait for
St. Nick to appear,
Then sit up all night,
Till his sleigh bells they hear.

But hark! Do not forget-
That on one starry night,
Angels did rejoice,
Oh, what a glorious sight!
For there in a stable,
Our Lord was humbly born,
The babe, the Son of God
Did come to earth that morn.
They laid Him in a manger,
And placed Him in a stall.
The little Savior- bless Him,
The greatest gift of all.

Merry Christmas, and remember the reason for the season!

Snow~

Tiny white flakes
Fall softy down...
Spiraling, dancing,
Fall to the ground.

Chill Winter morn',
A deep forest scene:
Frost on the earth,
White on dark green.

Sparkling new stars
Glint on dark pines
A galaxy of feathered flakes
Herald memorable times.

Silver ice glitters,
Shivers 'neath sun.
Birds blue and red:
Add these, then done...

A frozen artwork
Of frosty jewels,
Vivid colors on white,
Varied thread spools.

The forest alive
With colors so bright,
Crimson and indigo,
Evergreen, snow-white.

Life~

When Spring has sprung,
The earth is young,
And life begins anew.

Air fresh and pure;
Delicate and demure,
Flowers graced with dew.

Then Summer moves in,
Earth matures then,
The sky a vibrant blue.

Rich green foliage full,
Playful breezes pull,
Fireworks, fireflies, never few.

But as Autumn arrives,
Earth heaves a sigh,
Looks back at days that flew.

Now wise and knowing,
Chill winds blowing
Colored leaves swept askew.

At last Winter takes hold,
Earth's bones grow old,
To fall asleep- she wants to.

She grows gray and cold,
Tucked neath a blanket of snow,
This day would come, she knew.

And so, as a child grows,
Matures, learns, and knows,
So the Earth does, too.

In an endless circle of
Life, death, and love,
She warns us our days are few.

The Awakening~

For many long months
The snow has stayed.
Over hard and lifeless ground
It has been softly laid.

Clouds have blotted out
The winter sky,
As gray and dismal days
Have passed, unending, by.

But the wind that blows
Without rest or peace,
Deep within knows
That soon it must cease.

As the grass reappears,
Conquering its snowy oppressor,
The cold will fall back,
Growing steadily lesser.

The sun calls out new life,
His rays warm and coaxing;
Spring is free of strife,
So hope-giving and inspiring.

The clouds fade and flee,
Winter; so forsaken...
The air carries the scent of flowers,
Spring; life will awaken...
