Casting Cares~

Happy New Year to all!
Make it a good one.

All troubles built up
Remain because we choose
Not to let go of them,
And therefore we lose

What hope we might have
In a fresh New Year,
Since we cling and hold on
To the strife and the tears.

This is opportunity!
Crumple up your heartaches.
Give them to God-
Him alone- for goodness's sake!

Let go of the past,
Look on to the new;
Smile at their icy glares
And they'll melt soon...

Not all will depart,
But victory's begun:
When you stay positive,
You've already won.

The Greatest Gift of All~

Last year, my sister Emma wrote a beautiful Christmas poem I thought I'd share with y'all...

The Christmas colors- red, green and white,
The smell of the cookies,
The soft candlelight.
The land is adorned in a white crystal gown,
The cold air is sharp,
The season’s spirit all thru the town.
Gifts will be given,
Songs will be sung,
And above the hearth,
Stockings will be hung.
Children shall wait for
St. Nick to appear,
Then sit up all night,
Till his sleigh bells they hear.

But hark! Do not forget-
That on one starry night,
Angels did rejoice,
Oh, what a glorious sight!
For there in a stable,
Our Lord was humbly born,
The babe, the Son of God
Did come to earth that morn.
They laid Him in a manger,
And placed Him in a stall.
The little Savior- bless Him,
The greatest gift of all.

Merry Christmas, and remember the reason for the season!

Reason for the Season~

Merry Christmas, one and all:)

Snow spirals down
From the night sky outside;
And sugarplum fairies
In the snowdrifts do hide.

Jack Frost skates
On the frosted windowpane,
And Christmas lights sparkle
On each candy cane

That hangs from the garland
Atop the staircase,
And across the room, stockings
Overhang the fireplace.

Gingerbread lingers
Fresh in the air.
Spices and potpourri
Add their own flare.

Tiny lights twinkle,
Strung ‘round the tree,
And soft music plays
Silent Night’s melody.

Pine needles and nutcrackers,
White, red, and green,
But atop the piano
Rests a nativity scene,

Reminding us always
Of the true Christmas reason-
Christ is the center
Of this joyful season.
