The forest
stretches over our land,
Consisting
of pines, maples, and oaks.
Its
vastness and deepness is truly grand,
As you stare
in from the outside, it starts to coax...
An when you
give in,
Letting
your feet tread among the trees,
Trailing
your fingertips along their bark,
Their magic
takes away your fright, replacing it with ease.
Admiring
the gently rustling leaves,
You wander
through their cool, dim shade.
The cedars
whisper of their comforts,
Yet not a
word is said.
As a wind
picks up,
Their
boughs dip and sway.
You stare
in wonder at this dance,
As with the
storm they play.
But it all
changes
Quite too
fast-
First the
sun shines,
Then the
gale blasts.
You run
away,
Your feet
trample the ground.
You break
from the woods and stop,
Not daring
to make a sound.
The wind
dies down,
The trees
end their dance.
You watch
them closely,
Free of
their trance.
Then you
hear their voice,
Carried to
you on a quiet breeze;
They compel
you to return,
But you
turn and leave.
You've had
enough adventures
Today, as
you walked among the trees.
