Wild Heart~

I was going to make this poem unrhyming, just to try that style out- but it didn't work; I have to rhyme words!

A gale-swept plain,
A sun-gilded copse,
A rushing river...

Thundering hooves,
Pounding heart,
Grass blades shiver.

Swiftly galloping,
Leaping and running,
Wind in her mane...

Long shadows reach,
She continues her flight,
The sky gives way to rain.

Fierce light in her eyes,
Caught by the dying sun
As gray clouds part.

She crests the hill,
Rears up and defies the darkness:
A free and wild heart.

  1. What a pity poetry is so unappreciated these days!! A hundred years ago you'd have been rich and famous! Your SOOO good at it!

  2. I like this one: two parts of God's nature apparently struggling with each other.(You might want to fix the gilded plane...it's a bit disconcerting to wonder what an airplane has to do with the rest of the imagery) :-)

  4. A hundred years ago you would have been counted into society as a famous poet. However, now everyone seems to like twitter( ing) better. Oh well. Too bad there are no time machine for stuff like this.
