The Hope Chest~

Another sonnet I wrote a couple months ago for school...

Secreted away 'neath cedar chest lid,
Enwrapped in linen and newspaper folds,
A girlhood tradition preserved of old
Keeps hopes of future days patiently hid.
Both the box and latch are strongly secure:
A well-guarded heart steeled from scorning eyes.
It assumes the unobtrusive disguise,
Innocence of dreams protected and pure.
Treasured love letters worn from countless reads
Tucked 'twixt the folds of a white wedding gown
Infuse the cloth with a shy, sweet perfume.
Oh for the days when these hopes shall be freed,
The padlock removed, the heartstrings unbound,
And the dried crimson roses once more will bloom.

Where Roses~

A very short little rhyme from one of my stories...

Where roses kiss a gray sky morn',
Where, silver, falls the sea,
I watch for you, a soul lovelorn...
My Heart- sail back to me!

Walk With Me~

Just a little sort-of romantic poem;)

Walk with me a while
Through the meadow grass,
Alongside the singing brook,
Shining silver glass.

Where warm sun beats down
Upon my let-down hair
And songbirds trill sweetly
Of the day so fair.

Stroll these fields of clover,
My hand clasped in yours.
This day we can feel safe,
Away from storms and wars.

Perhaps we shall see
A young doe and her fawn,
Or just talk and wander
Til the day is gone.

Then catch me a shooting star
As twilight settles in,
And promise me that like its light,
Our love shall never dim.

Promise Me~

A seriously cheesy love poem I once thought I could use if I wrote a kind of medieval novel with knights and damsels in distress. Written, I believe, back in March... I'll dedicate it to the amazing characters Arthur and Gwen from BBC's Merlin.

Please promise me,
Swear you will return.
Ever I shall watch for you
Lest of your death I learn.

Vow you will be faithful,
Our thoughts shall never part.
Please pledge to me your loyalty,
Else you break my heart.

Years shall pass,
And seasons flee,
Yet ever I
Shall cling to thee...

In fervent hopes
You shan't forget
The love, the laughter,
The hours spent.

Your heart and soul
Returning to me;
Of these solemn things
Please promise me.
